I have gotten huge complements on everything I have made in this book. I especially like the lemon flavored ice cream that dosen't requier an ice cream maker! If you are looking for a great country cook book this one is perfect. There is also information about Laura and Almanzo that is fun to read if you are a fan of The little house on the prarie books.

My Grandmother, born in 1880, lived with us until her passing in 1963 and how I loved entering our own 'little house in Michigan' to the smells of her cooking. Always something warm on the stove or in the oven... to greet the little girl who walked a mile home from school. Her recipes, as was the norm back then, were only recorded as ingredients... and my own attempts to recreate them after years of following stupid 'health' fads were, by guess and by golly, hit and miss. Now I have authentic methods to follow, of the foods my own gram prepared. I find so many of her 'ingredient lists' in this cookbook. Addressing this book specifically, I find healthy, simple foods, the kind that allowed folks of the day to live long and healthy, independent lives. Wheat is different now and I adjust her recipes to avoid it, taking a particular digestive aid when I cannot substitute and retain the integrity of the dish, but other than that, I am finding this, a cookbook to live with and use often for delicious, healthy comforting food that tastes good.

Laura's favorite recipes, including her famous gingerbread and cookies, can be found here, as well as stories from her friends and notes about her life. If you wonder what Laura's life was like after her series of books ended - you'll find a glimpse of it here. Interspersed with photos of the Wilders' lives, this book is a treasure for fans of "Little House" and a time capsule from cooking in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

It was a gift for my daughter. She loved it and will be making dished from this cookbook. I love the paper used in printing this book. It will not fall part as most new books.

This cook book/memoir shipped quickly, and the condition was perfect, like new. I have enjoyed the book very much- any fans of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her "Little House" books probably will. These are recipes from her personal collection, and memories from her actual life.

I am very happy with my cookbook, and the photographs are beautiful. I am homeschooling my kids, using the Prairie Primer, and this will be an additional resource. It is also a very good cookbook. LOL

Wonderful photographs of Laura's home at Rocky Ridge, with lots of good recipes.

A must buy if you are studying for nclex! I purchased many books and I didn't use a single one of them after realizing how helpful t his one was. The pages appear as though it was typed in 2 columns and one column has the topics and information, the other is blank. I used this area to hand write any extra points for my notes or textbooks. This technique and book design made for a perfect study tool. Also, I realized after I took my nclex (and passed on the first attempt) that many little details where typed out and put in this book, so I didn't have to attempt to remember that a persons ABGs will be respiratory acidosis right after a NG tube is placed and them become metabolic. This was never taught to me and I did get a question on my nclex about it. If I hadn't had this book I wouldn't have know this and many other topics.

I was a person needing content review. I followed the plan calendar that came with the Kaplan course and used this book to brush up on my weak areas. If utilized with Kaplan testing and course, it's helpful. With Kaplan, you're supposed to take the first test, read the content book for weaknesses, then attend the class. The classes were simply going through the decision tree and answering a whole bunch of NCLEX questions, the entire time. No one told me this, so I was surprised to spend 8 hours a day answering questions for four days. It was still an enjoyable experience, and I couldn't get the instructors voice out of my head when taking NCLEX. Took boards in February and passed with 75 questions.

I'm a C student in my nursing program, I don't know anything after I graduated, this book covered everything that you can possibly imagine on the nclex. I took the NCLEX RN around 120 questions, all the questions were covered in the book. Watching the video while reading the book is the most effective method

I didn't find this a helpful resource at all. It is set up like an outline and does not list interventions in an order of priority- it's almost like they just through. I passed the NCLEX in 75 Q's and found Saunders NCLEX guide extremely helpful during prep/study.

It was a while back since I took NCLEX but this book really helped me to focus on the essentials of what's being tested instead of diving in deep. Therefore it took me less amount of time to study and yet the important stuff stuck with me. I liked the charts, tables, acronyms, designs, pictures and pin points of what's important . It was easy to read, not at too crowded on the page. Thanks Kaplan for this

This is an easy to use guide to study for the NCLEX. I highly recommend this tool in your arsenal when studying for this life changing exam. Kaplan does a great job of getting the basics in the forefront and helping you study for the appropriate readiness for the test. Good feedback, review areas and questions.

Just finished my Kaplan online course, obsessing over this book! It has all key points! I suggest reading it front to back!!! It’s currently my best friend. There is plenty of note taking space and margins. Straight to the point. Personally love that it’s black and white. Highlight is great, everything just pops out with the clutter of anything else.

Kaplan is the best way to prepare for RN boards. I did a live review & studied material on my own. I passed my first attempt. I learned how to read & break down questions, as well as narrow down answers when I'm unsure. Highly recommend to nursing students preparing for certification. Follow the plans & study diligently. Practice tests & predictors are very useful. Worth the investment.

Here's my experience with this book:I found 2 boxes of old, mostly unidentified old (to very old) photos in my mother's closet at the time of her death. I'm sure she'd put them there when an aunt of hers died in the mid 1980's. I was quite excited about this book, and when I read it, I was delighted. Here was a book that could really help with my boxes of mysteries.Actually dating photos with the aid of this book has been a bit disappointing. I learned a lot from what I had read--but really found myself with only a few tools to work with. The most helpful section has been on the types of old photos, including their sizes and the material on which they are printed. When I read the section on dating photos by examining the fashions of the day, it seemed very helpful. But...when I examined some of my own mystery photos, I realized there wasn't nearly enough info to go on. For instance, there is almost no info on children's clothing that I found useful. Was that a tophat, or some variation, worn by the young man in my photo who may have just gotten his first adult suit? Nowhere could I find the length of his coat, the cut of the lapels, the shape of his trousers, or even his pointy-toed boots. He was wearing his hat at the 10% angle--but these were farm people, so far how behind the cut of the times might he be? Nor did I have much luck with the recommended links.And how about the two women on the bridge, smiling at the camera held by some ancestor of mine, wearing skirts that defied all classification, and two radically different hats?So, this book's a nice overview, but when you want to get down to the actual work of playing photo detective, you'll need to go to far more detailed sources. I tried using some of the links mentioned in the book. After many hours, I have learned a bit more about a couple of photos, but I must have glanced over the real message of this book: Identifying or learning more about old photos is a very time-consuming endeavor. That makes perfect sense when I think about it, but somehow the marketing for this book made it seem, not easier, but perhaps faster than it really is.I find it all very interesting--but I've not enough time these days to immerse myself in old photos.

I bought the Kindle edition and it has the advantage of being able to do searches. I wish I'd bought the hard copy though even with its much higher price, as I would like to get a better view of the photos.I do wish the book were longer. I would like more information on the clothing styles at various times. However, it did point me in the direction of buying books on the history of clothing styles. I did find the parts on hair styles to be quite helpful.All in all, I found it had a lot of useful information for me and helped me narrow down the dates of some photos.

This is a generally helpful book that heightens the reader's awareness of what to look for when dating old family photographs. Additional specific information is largely lacking about styles, fashion fads, and details. I realize that would be a lot to put in a single volume, but more detail by decade would be welcome. This is an early work by a very gifted photo analyst. Good for the beginner or someone who just inherited grandma's trunk!

This book is a great addition to my genealogy library. Using these techniques, I have discovered the names of people in old photos and I am finding out so much more about my family history. This is recommended reading for everyone interested in family history.

I bought this book to use to identify the periods and possible identities of people in some very old pictures that have. I have not had time to use it extensively, but I think it will help me. Some of my friends have looked over the book and asked to use it as soon as I finish.

I've been doing genealogical research on my family for several years, and I've inherited boxes of old photographs dating to the mid 1800s. This has given me insight into what to look for when trying to date some of these photos.
