This book is designed to prepare you for the worst case scenario of 72 hours of living with the contents of what you are carrying in a bag if you are forced from your home. It also goes over a small emergency bag that should stay with you in case you aren't able to get to your main bag. Next is the meat of the preparation: what to put in your bag. I like the author’s direct, straight forward information and he provides a wealth of advice. Lots of examples are given as to what is needed to survive. Great stuff.
I purchased this as an ebook primarily as a base to build my own bug out bag. But I soon learned that each geographical region has its own challenges and these should be taken into account. However, the material is through enough to help with building your bag. It starts with the basics picking a pack to clothing suggestions to putting it all together. At 79 pages, it packs a good punch. However there is a little more to the first 72 hours than this book addresses. All in all this is a informative book, I would not purchase this as a paperback put as an ebook is well worth it.
It has taken me quite a long time to get around to reading this book. I'm sorry I took so long, and I'm glad I finally read it. It has great suggestions, and presents a lot of information that one needs to think about when building a bug out bag, including what about family members and pets. This book is geared to a 72 hour bug out, and it does a great job. It had suggestions that were easy, but I would not have thought of. I appreciated his including pets, because while disaster officials do not consider them important, to me they are family.

I really appreciate this book. It is very helpful for everyone since so many disasters are happening anywhere in the world. We must be always ready every time. We must ensure that our survival kit is complete with essential things that we need when worst scenario happens. The tips and techniques given in this book how to prepare our bug out bag are so useful. We must read and follow important reminders given in this book for our safety.

For you greenhorns, this is a reasonable place to begin your education. NO book will EVER be the end all, be all. With that in mind, this is an excellent place to start if you missed all those Eagle Scout meetings because you were busy with your needlepoint lessons. Overall, I'd give this book a 6.5 out of 10--coming from a Northern California, redneck survivalist with an extensive background in living in harmony with the land; take my advice as you will. Yes, I'd recommend this book--to a newcomer, but not for the experienced "prepper", unless you want to reinforce your current viewpoint.
